I hear this, and I understand what you're trying to say, but it's s specious argument in the age of the internet.

 

All the internet is, is somebody else's network. Do you take pains to tell people that their data is on somebody else's network? Of course not, because we understand it.

 

Same with the cloud... There a layer of abstraction that makes saying "your data is on somebody else's computer" disingenuous.

 

Your data is in a CoLo... Probably several CoLos... And "cloud" is an evolution of the old idea of standing up your Colo...
