G+_JC Strout
Good evening Know-it-alls! I am looking to purchase my first 3D printer. I would like a pre-built or easy kit. My previous experience in 3D printing is with an old Prusa Mendel i2 (which was built from a kit and finnicky as anything) I have been looking at something like the XYZ Davinci 1.0 (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SO6O6TI) but the reviews on amazon are quite mixed, so any suggestions on a good printer in the $500 or less rahge would be appreciated. Thanks!! :)? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SO6O6TI
G+_Donna Shanklin
I have no experience - but this 3D Printer was mentioned at CES for $399 -- http://newmatter.com/#!/
G+_Stede Bonnett
I have the DaVinci Pro and it has been really easy to work with so far. The software lacks some of the more esoteric options I found in apps like matter control or slic3r, but the necessary settings are present. I didn't expect to use the Wi-Fi but I set it up the first week and moved the printer from by my desk over to the workbench. So far I have used XYZ branded ABS in a couple colors and some PLA from a vendor we use at work for our Type A Series 1.?
G+_Larry Havenstein
The reviews I have seen for the Rostock Max V2 Delta say you can't really use the full build volume as about half way up it starts having accuracy problems.
G+_Larry Havenstein
I think they like the printer but found that the full build volume wasn't really usable. There is good info in those two vids.
G+_Larry Havenstein
Trying to figure out what to buy for a first printer is a challenge. I am going through that too. Am twisting between a Robo 3D and a Flash Forge. Was thinking a Max 2 Delta until I realized that you really can't fully use the extra height of build volume. Whatever I get I want to be able to use normal spools of material and all the popular types. Its kind of at the point do I wait for the next gen this summer or pull the trigger and get the usage? G+_Larry Havenstein
I would think the enclosed printers would have better luck with tall prints as the enclosure would keep the drafts away. I wonder if some kind of warmer would help? (lamp or controlled heating)
G+_Carlos Silva
Ire dived one for Christmas and am very happy with it. I'm not too worried about the chipped filament because it isn't that much more expensive than other quality reels, is in a nice container, and is actually decent quality. Take care of it and it will take care of you. I am looking into better software for it, what comes with it is basically a viewer before you print
