G+_Ben Reese
Here's a little Arduino project I did a few days ago. My 15 yo fridge door doesn't always close all the way so I wanted an alarm to tell me when I (or my wife or 2 yo son) leave it open. The switch is a few pieces of aluminum foil. It buzzes after 15, 30, and 45. After 60 seconds it beeps continuously until the door is closed.

G+_Travis Hershberger
What are you using for power, and is it external to the fridge? Nice one.
G+_Ben Reese
I found an unused 9V wall wart lying around and used that. There's an outlet right next to the fridge.
G+_Ben Reese
The whole setup is kinda crude, but it works. The Arduino is in a zip lock bag and held to the fridge with a couple magnets. I sandwiched the wire into the foil and hot glued it. The wire I used is a couple strands from a length of cat 5 cable...
