G+_Ben Reese
Show/series request: I'd love some direction on DIY home automation stuff done cheap/maker style but with more security than most makers might consider. So my thinking is: •Raspberry Pi to act as a central hub and UI •Arduino Micro/Nano/anything tiny for actually switching power •Something like NRD24L01 for wireless communications •If possible, a rotating key (similar to car remote entry) for security - just something to prevent replay attacks If there's a good way to do this without the Arduino to cut down even more on cost and size, that's be cool. That might be a better request of The Ben Heck Show? though... Other nice to haves: light/fan dimming, keep the existing switches functional (maybe 3-way circuit?) G+_Pete Warner
I think this is an excellent idea. I am frustrated by the lack of security in the average Internet of Things (IoT) devices. As a maker, I think the maker community can do better. Why does my Amazon Echo not use voice recognition for user authentication? Why is anyone at a party in my home now able to add things to my Amazon shopping list or downvote songs? Why can't I have a secure music streaming device that does Pandora? Secure video streaming device that does NetFlix and Plex? Why can't I have a secure weather station?

G+_Ben Reese
Thanks, Scott Weeks?. I've seen that and I think it's what is mostly used on Superhouse.tv, but I wasn't sure about the security. I guess I should just get some of the radios and a couple Arduino Nanos and try this stuff out on my own. The My Sensors seems like a great place to start!
