Yeah, yeah, I've heard the arguments that "stuff in this world is built for humans, so robots must have human form etc". That's a load of rubbish. There is no reason for a humanoid robot to run around in the woods. There is no reason for it to have only two legs. There is no reason for it to be top heavy. Also remember that this is just one project with the constraints you noted yourself - it had to operate in human environments and in all terrain.
