G+_Ben Reese
Episode 412 is the closest we've been to the old "maker" Know How. It would be awesome if you could get Allen back to show more of the Arduino/Pi coding and electronic work that makes his stuff work. Just a suggestion. G+_Black Merc
Smoke n' soldier... Bits n' bites... 3dprinters n' hot glue... Hand tools to cnc... Got to get the 'maker' fuel reloaded! Iot was ok, but, a little high off the circuit board for most of us(mho).
G+_Jake Russo
Exactly.. I'm sick of this "Know How IOT" stuff
G+_Ben Reese
They actually haven't been on IOT in a few weeks. More recently they've been focused on gaming. Jason and Megan both stay busy with other shows - I'm sure it's hard to prep for this one too.
G+_Jake Russo
Ben Reese Yeah, that's true, it's nice to see a bit of the old KH back, but I still miss the actual projects
G+_John Sullivan
Episode 412 was yesterday (12/13) so when did you watch 413? Was that a pre-record for next week?
G+_Paul Hutchinson
John Sullivan The description of Episode 412 mentions Allan Cecil so I'm guessing 413 was just a typo.
G+_Ben Reese
John Sullivan Paul Hutchinson yes, sorry... That was a typo.
G+_John Sullivan
Ben Reese Rats! I looked at the synopsis for 412 and it didn't sound interesting. Had hope that you had somehow gotten to see 413 and it was more what I'm waiting for. Guess I'll watch 412 and see what's up.
G+_Ben Reese
Yeah, sorry. It looks like a cool setup though! He uses a circuit board that emulates button presses on a controller. Sounds like gaming systems use some sort of time-division multiplexing to read each button press. Sorta backwards from the WS2812 LED strips. Toward the end of the video he explains that each controller channel actually has support for twice as many buttons and uses a hidden programming menu to play music from the "controller". G+_Black Merc
Ben Reese the more accurate... A parallel to shift register... Button values are latched into the register through parallel(value states+5 or 0 for each button) then shifted(serial) down to the console. Yes, multiplexed but, the most rudimentary of methods. G+_John Sullivan
Ben Reese I'll keep my hopes up for the real Ep 413 next Thurs. Maybe you were predicting the future! ;)
G+_Tailsthefox Pelissier
Ben Reese I hate to barek it to your kid, but in otter to get to all the thing's they wound like the hosts will have no choice but to do seasons that is aimed mostly at one subject. See if they got Scott Wilkinson to host then that wound be season just on Home Theater.
