G+_George Kozi
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Bryan Burnett How about doing a step by step guide for setting up streaming on YouTube Gaming for dummies? Google won't do it, so I turn to you gentlemen geeks for this one. Originally shared by George Kozi Okay, Google YouTube Gaming Bradley Horowitz Larry Page Sergey Brin Sundar Pichai etc. YouTube gaming. Is this thing meant to be used by run-of-the-mill people, or is it meant only for use by insiders and card carrying geeks? You guys just plunked this out there, without ANY "how to". No guides, no info about how to set the damn thing up, nothing... Do you think that we are mind readers? I play online MMO's and perhaps I'd fancy streaming some of that on YouTube Gaming, but apparently, the procedure for doing that is a secret, or probably buried in some obscure blog only Googlers look at. If you want this thing to become popular, do the "YouTube Gaming For Dummy's" thing. And by the way Google, your communication skills suck. They always did. The only one that knew how to talk to normal people was Vic Gundotra, and he left.
G+_John Valentine
George Kozi?? You're correct of course, the comms is terrible. The streaming bit of YouTube gaming is in fact just YouTube streaming from your YouTube channel, there is no tool, plugin, app etc from the gaming site. You will need a third party encoder such as obs or Xsplit (unless you want to do a scheduled event using Hangouts). If you go here (make sure you're logged in): http://www.YouTube.com/live_dashboard You have a series of steps on the right hand side to follow (not well written) and if this doesn't help, an FAQ link in the top bar. If you haven't set your YouTube channel up for streaming previously, then it should walk you through enabling it. Twitch is somewhat similar, but from the likes of Google we should expect a more customer-centric approach.?
G+_George Kozi
It may be just me, but I think that streaming to something like YouTube Gaming shouldn't be so... byzantine. The tools necessary to do that should all be integrated in the YouTube Gaming site. You want a very low, or no threshold at all for a streaming site, and that certainly doesn't involve first going to Bob, then to Jim, and borrowing a tool from aunty Tallulah. G+_John Valentine
George Kozi? its not just you. Consoles have changed this in that streaming is simple now at least on those platforms. Doing it via PC could be just as easy, maybe windows 10 will bring this as a native cross platform app? Right now it still requires digging through sites (usually community created) to find the answers. All this hangs off open source, free stuff typically, so this is used as an excuse for not doing it in a simple way. I love Google, but they are just stuck in a world of engineering and cannot see what people actually want or need.?
