G+_Ben Reese
Just caught up with last week's episode. Love the idea the Tesla hack. My kids have a power wheels with the same motor setup, so I'll be interested in seeing how you control the motors.
G+_Jason Perry
My biggest thought is how do I control steering without breaking something. If I have control and a kid jams the wheel left or right how do I keep something from breaking.
G+_Ben Reese
I was wondering the same. If the survo is moved manually, can it damage the survo?
G+_Dan Hockey
Drive by wire. No mechanical connection, some form of computer would make the final decision base on input from a human. The computer could decide when the human is doing something stupid and make a safe decision.
G+_Jason Perry
Dan Hockey so essentially there would be a potentiometer on the shafts for the steering wheel, then the servo steers. What about external force on the wheel? I am starting to think I am overthinking this. I don't think there is enough weight over the wheels to keep them from sliding sideways. My kid would have to physically oppose my other kid turning the wheel.
G+_Jason
Sorry to see you go. I really enjoy the episodes. I hope they get someone that is as knowledgeable as you are to replace you. There are a couple of projects I hope you do before you leave. 1) You mentioned to Steve Gibson that you built a dedicated machine for running SpinRite to test drives. I hope you do an episode on this. 2) On the 3 dumb router episode, you mentioned that you can do this configuration with the Synology router. I want you to do an episode to show how. I assume I don't need additional routers.
