2) Isn't this EXACTELY what scandalized the pundits because Europe was doing it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen a lot of eye rolling and turning up the nose over it. Now let's se the same pundit reactions done again because the FTC is investigating.

 

3) the argument that Europe is investigating because google it's an American firm, is dead and buried. And it's about time, because that argument stunk from the moment it was uttered.

 

4) for those who think that Government shouldn't do this kind of thing, I got a couple of words: Enron, Lehman Brothers, and yes, Volkswagen too.

To me It seem not that it is "because google it's an American firm" but because of American firms complaining to the regulators both in Europe and the US.

It also interesting that google was the only company not reported as wanting legal protection for giving user info to the US gov.

Yes government intervention is supposed to be about protecting US. Problem is, its seldom about that.
