G+_Michael Heinz
Oh, dear... I went looking at new frames and I found a couple to choose from. I'm afraid the Alien-X isn't quite for me, but can anyone give advice on which of these is likely to be more my, uh, speed?
G+_Michael Heinz
First up is the "ghost" version of the Frame I had before: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__73705__HobbyKing_FPV250_V4_Green_Ghost_Edition_LED_Night_Flyer_FPV_Quad_Copter_Kit_AR_Warehouse_.html
G+_Michael Heinz
The other is this carbon-fibre frame. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=77191
G+_Michael Heinz
The "ghost" frame doesn't offer me anything except it looks cool. The carbon frame looks like I'd have more room for expansion, but I have trouble believing it will be very tough...
G+_Brent Burzycki
Why are you opposed to the alien x frame?
G+_Michael Heinz
Not entirely sure, except that I have a box full of 5x3x3 gemfans sitting under my desk that I'd have to sell if I moved to a larger frame. ;-) No, actually, I do know part of it - there's a bit of drone paranoia in my area and I chose to build "small" so it would seem less threatening. G+_Michael Heinz
Well, there's also the issue that I wouldn't be able to reuse a lot of the parts from the 250. I wouldn't be able to reuse the batteries, for example. They'd be too small.
G+_Michael Heinz
Well, if I have any advice to give... learn from my bad example - find a large empty space to practice in. I have a long, narrow space to fly in - safe enough because there's no one there, but not a lot of room for lateral errors and, oh yeah, power lines at the near end. G+_DeWayne Shorts
This is the new one I'm building and it would use the blades you have. Motors mount on top and the bottom box is all clean plate. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__61389__Switchblade_200_Folding_Mini_FPV_Quad_Copter_200mm_KIT_.html
