G+_Michael Heinz
#quadcopter - I'm looking at switching from the 3-bladed props to 2-bladed. Do I need a bigger prop or a steeper pitch?

G+_Dan Salter
I've done the same thing with my 250 which is almost identical to yours, based on Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ's build. I found 2 blade 5030's (5" diameter 3" forward per rotation) made lots of noise and there was considerable loss of control and power. I also tried carbon fiber 5030's with the same result. 5040's were better (steeper pitch) but still not as good as the 3 blade 5030's and very noisy. The sweet spot for me has been 2 blade 6030's which in my opinion are better than the 3 blade 5030's. I got a significant increase in speed and lower noise with great maneuverability. The only downside I've found was that flips are slower, but upping the stick scaling on the flysky seems to account for that. One last thing if you go the 6030 route; be sure your cabling is tight. There is very little wiggle room between the props and the frame and I crashed today as a result of the props severing a loose ECU cable mid flip. (Broken frame arm but otherwise OK :o)
G+_Michael Heinz
Thanks, Dan Salter. Glad I'm not the only one who's managed to break an FPV250 frame! I have put in an order for some different props, I'll report back on what my results as well.
