G+_Wayne Black
For all you Syma X5 owners. I took an old hypodermic needle filled with some silicone from a spray can and put a drop on the prop bearing areas. So far, I've run through about 25 600 mah batteries with no motor burnouts. I get around 6 to 10 minute flight times and switch out 5 batteries, one after another. So I would think the motors would be getting hot with no rest time. Does it help? Can't hurt as far as I'm concerned. The silicone won't dry out and get gummy like some other lubes and doesn't seem to attract dust or dirt. I'm flying in the desert and don't have the luxury of fluffy clean grass... Another little tip. I found that I was getting a clicking noise during flips and hard into a wind. Turns out the prop shafts have enough play that the props will occasionally hit the prop guards. A little gentle bending with a heat gun solved the problem. Also, keep an eye on the motor gears. I had one slip down enough to stop meshing with the prop gear. Maybe that's a sign that that motor is getting warmer then the others. (?)
G+_Eddie Foy
Good tip. Gonna give it a go. When I used to sail, we used SailKote. It was dry. Very odd but was very slippery. I might have to go grab a can again.
