G+_Wayne Black
Well this is definitely creepy. It seems to be very stable, but I'll bet that I could take one down with a Boleadora. They also should have programed it to lift it's leg when it got near a tree. :) Apparently, Google engineers don't have a sense of humor!
G+_Eddie Foy
Keep in mind the vast majority of the tech we love was first used to kill people better then the other guys. Sad fact. (we all embrace the DARPA challenges which are just that)
G+_Wayne Black
Not "was first used to kill". Adapted to kill. Airplane, computer, and the farm tractor (later made into tanks). The vast majority of human kind's inventions were created to make life easier or travel quicker. It was only later that we decided that it could be used to kill. I suppose the one exception would be the splitting of the atom. "Hey, I'll bet we could make a neat bomb with this idea!"
G+_Eddie Foy
GPS, has 2 modes, high accuracy and low accuracy. High is turned on during war time. Thanks to the Industrial Military Complex, & political manipulation, we benefit as slaves. Splitting the atom was NOT a bomb making concept. Nuclear research was going on for decades prior. Madam Curie was not looking to kill an entire city. In the 1920's + there was a device used at dept stores to X-ray feet for proper shoes. This caused a LOT of health issues. Gyroscopes = missile guidance systems Night Vision = find the enemy first GPS = guide our missiles to target Its non stop. The money goes into military research (usually by college students under grants) The USA spends more on defense then China, Russia, Iran, Brazil & and about 5 others countries combined Just actually read the Federal Register and see what we sell to who. THe USA is a war monger. We cause unrest, then sell arms to both sides.
G+_Wayne Black
GPS has 2 modes?? The military is just using dual signals (PPS) as opposed to civilian use of one. SPS broadcasts on one frequency, while PPS uses two. Decades prior? You're getting x-rays and splitting the nucleus of the atom confused. Nuclear fission, ie splitting the atom's nucleus, wasn't theorized until the late 30s and only in July of 1945 was the first test at the White Sands Proving Ground conducted. And the scientists working on it weren't completely sure what would happen. There were a lot of crossed fingers.
G+_Ben Yanke
I don't believe the high accuracy is turned on and off, it's just encrypted so civilians can't get to it.
G+_Wayne Black
Exactly, the military uses PPS or Precise Positioning Service which why they can send those "smart bombs" right down the chimneys!
G+_Bryan Haviland
...and civilians can subscribe to private correction services.
G+_Wayne Black
Is that how civilians can obtain better accuracy with GPS for archeology?
