G+_William Burlingame
How about a show on how to set up two separate LANs from one residential cable modem.
G+_William Burlingame
Jungle Boogie, I've watched a couple of videos on YouTube and they talk about setting up a switch for a VLAN. I have a couple of switches on my LAN, but they seem to be transparent to my system. Are there special switches for VLANs or do I just not know how to see them via my desktop? G+_David Hagy
I think to make a vlan you would need managed switch or router. You can also setup a vlan with some wireless routers especially if the router is running DD-WRT.
G+_K R
you talking of pluging in two separate internet isp connection into one router ? Well there are business grade router that i've seen that does this .
G+_William Burlingame
K R, no, I'm talking about one ISP address and two routers. One that's very secure and one that's more open for my college age grandchildren. I want to let them log onto my system and make it more difficult to snoop around my stuff. It's just another layer for them to get through.

G+_bryant thompson
one of the newer higher end routers usually have guest logins that you can restict their usage, as for getting into your computers, a good password that isn't written on the blotter is a start.... G+_William Burlingame
bryant, can you have the guest feature only available certain times of the day? With a simple timer, I can automatically turn off one LAN in a VLAN setup.
