G+_William Burlingame
If I set up a mesh network, do I disable the router's WiFi or do I end up with two WiFi networks or is the mesh network just a repeater or ???
G+_james robinson (radiati
Your wording is a little vague. Multiple access points is not the same as a mesh network. In a mesh network each radio communicates with its neighbors and the network to route data most efficiently accounting for environmental interference. However if you simply want multiple access points, try getting AP's (or routets)that are the same model. Set them up with the exact same Wi-Fi settings and you should be fine. Some clients won't hand-off automatically. If you do have issues you may have to setup two separate Wi-Fi networks and manually switch. You can get AP's designed for this that will work great. Ubiquity's Uni-fi radios are pretty easy to setup and not expensive.
G+_William Burlingame
If I get a Ubiquity's Uni-fi or Open Mesh, do I turn off the router's WiFi? The video's I've watched on YouTube show setting them up, but the don't discuss the router's existing WiFi.
G+_james robinson (radiati
If you are adding AP's. I would disable the radio in your router. If you need it later you can turn it back on.
