G+_William Burlingame
I replaced the HDD on my Dell laptop with an SSD, but I had a couple problems. The first HDD caddy I bought to replace the optical drive wasn't the correct one, even though the description on Amazon had my model included. It was 12.7mm thick and I needed 9.5mm. It would probably cost too much to return it considering it's original price. Then the BIOS didn't recognize the HDD in the caddy. That was fixed with a firmware upgrade. My laptop is only five moths old and the BIOS was out of date. I bought it directly from Dell. Now that I've moved the documents and other data from the C: drive to the D: drive, all is working well. Since the firmware upgrade wasn't available until two months after I bought it, I would have been out out luck had I tried it then. Just remember that it's worthwhile to read the forums before undertaking some projects. I didn't.
