G+_William Burlingame
Months ago my router failed and I put Comcast’s cable/modem into DHCP mode. I already had two routers setup as access points in order to have strong WiFi in other parts of the house. I left them in place because I knew that I wanted to quit using the Comcast unit as a router and I still needed the additional access points. I finally got one and I’m not sure how to reconfigure my system. The Comcast Gateway address is 10.0.0.1 and it has assigned 10.0.0.x to everything else on the LAN. The default for the new router is 192.168.1.1. Shouldn’t I be able to connect the router via the WAN port to the Comcast cable/modem, put the cable/modem back into bridge mode and let the new router reassign new addresses for units on the LAN? G+_Eddie Foy
It should. Put the comcast back to bridge mode > into new router's WAN port. The other AP's into the new router's LAN ports. Everything will get the new 192.168.1 subnet, so anything there might be a bit of a delay on active devices until the DHCP renews.
G+_William Burlingame
Eddie Foy, thanks. I thought that would work, but want to get another opinion.
