At this point the market is so mature that an upgrade means a tenth of a millimeter thinner, half a gram lighter, and a new set of poop emoji. And it's not only Apple, it's all of them. The only new shiny thing I want is that crazy Surface Studio... but even that is a want, not a need, and the second generation of it will probably be better, and less expensive. https://cdn2.macworld.co.uk/cmsdata/features/3489704/Apple_Spaceship_Campus.jpg
G+_Michael Shada
Agreed, but the problem with keeping a phone longer than 3 years is the batteries are no longer REMOVEABLE making a 2-3 year old phone almost useless and cheaper just to buy a new one. Both Apple and Android phone manufactures Require you to pay for expensive battery replacement or just get a new phone.

G+_Daniel J Brieck Jr
Buy a phone with a removable battery there are still a few left, the battery if used appropriately should last beyond 3 years, and if not paying the manufacturer to change the battery for you is still cheaper than buying all new. G+_Tom Wisniewski
Except with the iPhones, the issue also becomes lack of security updates.
G+_Daniel J Brieck Jr
I found the larger problem to be on Android is "shitty" software updates that make the phone run slower and slower, my Nexus 6 is just running slower and slower it seems, built in legitimate planned obsolescence to really make your perfectly good hardware run as bad as possible?
