G+_Walter L. McCormick
Has anyone tried to clone windows 8.1 (using clonezilla) and restore the image to a fresh hdd/ssd? I have heard of problems being caused by windows UEFI and or secure boot. What experience have you all had?
G+_Jon Messenger
I have tried and failed so I did a clean install with a windows 8 install disc in a separate PC that had a DVD drive
G+_Walter L. McCormick
I should be able to make a recovery disk of windows and the plug the new ssd into a usb port with a sata to usb converter and install it that way? Or would I have to buy a windows install disk?
G+_Eddie Foy
I have a usb3.0 dual SATA dock that will do a standalone clone. I did a full installation on 3 partitions (3 boot options) and that works.
G+_Walter L. McCormick
I did some more research and found that the windows recovery disk are clone images themselves. So all I should have to do is change out the drive and restore the clone. The only problem is telling windows that the drive size has changed. I don't know how to do that.
