G+_Walter L. McCormick
Hello everyone a couple students and I at my local community college are interested in starting a robotics and electronics club. We are considering not making it an official club through the college, but rather just a group of us interested in the subject, but that is beside the point. Has anyone here had experience starting such a club or maker space and if so, what kind of tips could you give us? I have the most experience with electronics, including Raspberry pis and arduinos, but i do not think my cohorts have that kind of experience. What would be the best way to get everyone involved and still produce some interesting projects. We are not interested, at the moment, in competing in any competitions. Incase you were wondering. Thanks for any help!
G+_Eddie Foy
Insurance. Sorry, but we live in a litigation society.
G+_Akira Yamanita
For a club, you can get permission to use a space on campus. There will probably be a small use fee that would cover insurance. I've been to a group meeting for a group that called itself a maker space, but it was really a group of people doing what you described. It was largely independent, but if you wanted to sit with someone and help on a project or just talk about it, you were welcome.? In your case, you may want to start with projects suitable for beginners that are inexpensive so anyone who wants to, can join on on the build.?
