G+_James Berry
Background: I was at a show with restored WW2 airplanes over the weekend and took video of the engines cranking up, running while waiting for departure, and departure flights from the airport/flyovers. They had a B17, B24, and a P51 Mustang. The problem: The video is over a gig (~12 minutes duration) and I want to be able to put it up for my Facebook friends in smaller sized edited snippets. My equipment: I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro running the latest Mavericks and have no Adobe products installed. My current video related software: I do have Handbrake, if that is an option. My question: Any idea(s) on a good app (preferably something that is free) to use to do the video editing? Thanks for the help, Jim
G+_Jonathan Schober
Handbrake will work. Or you could do something like iMovie.
G+_Philipp
You can also upload it to YouTube and use the online YouTube video editor to trim it.
G+_James Berry
Will YouTube have an issue with the file being potentially huge? I'm mainly a consumer on YouTube not a content creator.
G+_Jonathan Schober
It'll work, but its a huge file, and upload will take forever
G+_James Berry
The good old to remain nameless cable ISP probably won't help me upload it any faster like they do on downloads. So local editing is my best option?
G+_Jonathan Schober
Yes. Any free video editing program (or handbrake) will work fine for quick compression.
G+_Jonathan Schober
Its all about reducing the file size for upload. Facebook/Youtube will take fairly large files, but you will wait hours and hours for upload
G+_Ben Reese
I'd probably just upload it to YouTube, personally... Start it in the evening and let it run. YouTube is far better for videos than Facebook anyhow.
