G+_James Berry
So I have the classic wire frame items for Christmas that are painted white and use boxed LED light strings from the store (attached to the frame by clips/zip ties). My biggest problem is that I get to re-wire them due to too many blown bulbs and it's a giant pain (e.g. santa's sleigh is an all white light string setup). Is there an easier way to get lights on these items that will last a long time and not have to be redone so dang often. I'm even close to being a super maker but I might be able to put something together that's simple.
G+_Carlton Dodd
LED "bulbs" don't "blow". Ever. All the stores have strings of them, but they're a bit pricey. It'll be a hassle this year, but the LEDs will outlast your decorations. If you want to get fancy, you could get a bunch of WS2812 addressable LEDs and an Arduino, and make a fancy light show. G+_Jason Perry
Do they actually have addressable LED christmas lights!
G+_James Berry
I meant that my bulbs are dead (black and not lighting). "Blown" was a turn of phrase.
G+_Carlton Dodd
James Berry Oh, I totally understood that. Since it was a turn of phrase, I put it in quotes. No disrespect intended. I just wanted to point out that a string of LED Christmas lights are likely to outlast you and I.
G+_James Berry
I buy the LED strings (plug into extension cords from power stake) from the store (forget which one) and store them in the attic (can breathe through the eaves) when not deployed to the front yard. They are run from 6p to 11p for about a month then reduced after Christmas. I seem to be getting 2 seasons at most.
