G+_Johnathan Turner (Refra
So I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro (2.8 GH) with 4GB of memory and I was planning on replacing the optical disk drive with an SSD after watching your show. I was also wondering if you think it would be worth it to double the RAM to 8 GB at the same time. I know if I get a new desktop computer later this year I can most likely reuse the SSD, but is RAM similarly interchangeable?
G+_Scott Ableidinger
I wouldn't count on being able to reuse your ram in a new machine. The specs will most likely be different. If it helps in your decision making, I just replaced my HDD with an SSD in my late 2008 Macbook, kept the ram at 4gb, put on a fresh install of Mavericks, and it runs better than ever. Easily gave me another 2 years out of my machine, hopefully more!
G+_Raul Cruz
I have an early 2011 and I have done all that. Awesome!
G+_Johnathan Turner (Refra
Thanks Scott Ableidinger. That's what I suspected. I guess I will just have to weigh the cost of it against how soon it is getting replaced.
