G+_Johnathan Turner (Refra
With our local UAV group starting to talk about quad copter racing events, I've been trying to think of a way I can stream the races on a service like Twitch. I think it's fairly simple to take the 5.8 ghz signals and lay them out splitscreen, but the hurdle I am running into is bandwidth. Do you have any ideas for streaming in hd from a park or some other place without good WiFi that wouldn't cost hundreds of dollars per hour? G+_Midwest Concert Video
It could work if you're far enough away from any competing 5.8 gig signals and carefully ensure the different devices are on widely separated channels.
G+_Johnathan Turner (Refra
When I say bandwidth, I am talking about the internet upload speed I would need to achieve an HD stream of the combined FPV videos while away from WiFi.
G+_Midwest Concert Video
A good quality 4G link is enough. The problem is getting consistent speed from a phone company. Padre showed a thing he saw at the NAB show called ULive that bonds multiple cell phone data links together. They sell the hardware, and you can also rent the device and bandwidth from them. You can use a single carrier or use multiple different ones. This is a project that I'd love to see an open source version of, as ULive's prices are definitely for broadcasters. G+_Ben Reese
Yup. I live streamed (SD quality) church last week off tethered LTE.
G+_Johnathan Turner (Refra
Cool Ben Reese Did it just gobble up your data plan or was it not too bad?
G+_Ben Reese
I'm on Sprint and may not be paying them for tethering... I don't think it was too bad though. I don't typically tether and have used 10+ GB in months past just with my phone, so a GB or so isn't much.
G+_Johnathan Turner (Refra
Hmm. I think sprint is notoriously spotty where I live. I'll have to look into my local wireless options.
