In any dash cam(say the 808 key-chain camera) which comes inbuilt with a low quality camera, can we replace just the camera module with a high quality camera module and will that improve the video resolution ?

Probably not worth the effort and expense.

When you say low quality, mean cruddy sensor? Or cruddy optics.  I think most of the lesser cams would benefit greatly from better optics.

 

As for increased resolution, don't bother.  Doubt the  rest of the electronics would support it.  Its also going to have more data to deal with (probably 3 bytes per pixel; it adds up quick), so CPU speed will be taxed a lot more.

 

I've popped open some of these cheap spy cams in a effort to re-conjigger it to fit a form factor I needed, and its not trivial.  Tiny custom connectors and cables, makes it pointless.  (by the Syma's cam was the best for my uses)
