G+_Amit De
Any idea on how to bypass a smartphone's inbuilt microphones to receive the audio input via a 3.5mm earphone with mic. while recording a video??
G+_Eddie Foy
plugging in a mic to the port doesn't cut off the built in mic? Just plugging in a jumper cable to my car's stereo does on my Nexu6P. (funny note: I found that out screaming at it for voice controls and nothing happening)
G+_Amit De
Yeah I tried connecting a microphone but it dint work which is why I asked this question in the first place...I'm sorry but I'm drawing a blank here... How did you connect you nexus6p with jumper cables??
G+_Ben Reese
I think he's referring to a 3.5mm cable, but I could be wrong. There are a couple apps I've found to do similar from the mic on my bluetooth headset: BTmono: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bedoig.BTmono Mono Bluetooth Router: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxistar.monobluetoothfree You might try one (or both) of these. G+_Eddie Foy
yup 3.5 cable. Usually those jacks have a physical disconnect.
G+_Amit De
Ben Reese Yep. I am talking about the 3.5mm TRRS plug that came along with my Moto G 1st Gen which works well for taking calls etc.
G+_Ben Reese
According to this thread SoundAbout might be able to force the phone to use the external mic for video recording. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/DROID-4-by-Motorola/How-to-attach-external-microphone-for-video/m-p/2877458#M2444 If I remember correctly, SoundAbout is an app that will listen to your surroundings and mix the audio into your playback. Use case would be your listening to music with ear buds in and someone walks up behind you and starts talking. Maybe running it while shooting video will force the camera to use that external mic...
