G+_Kenneth Sikorski
I am using VLC to capture videos from YouTube. Lately I am getting an error message while trying to open the network stream. I seems to happen on newer music videos. Has anyone else had this problem? I'd to know if there is a work around for this. I would be grateful for any help. Thanks Ken
G+_Tim Nelms
You might try youtube-dl: https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/download.html Looks like they have flavors for most OS's. rg3.github.io - youtube-dl

G+_Ben Reese
I use youtube-dl when I need to download videos. Works every time. Still need to do a bit more testing, but I put ffmpeg in the same folder as youtube-dl and I think youtube-dl will use ffmpeg to make sure you get the highest quality video. For example, most 1080p formats youtube-dl finds don't have audio, but I think having them in the same folder allows youtube-dl to grab both the video-only 1080p and a copy with audio and combine them. Again, still need to test that theory.
G+_Rud Dog
The youtube-dl is the way to go and it is simple to use that is if you don't mind using the cmd-line approach.
