G+_Lars Lederer
Hello Know Now...I have a project for a client, he wants a "second screen" that will be programmed to show content related to main screen, for instance when music is playing to work like Shazam and display album art or when sports is on main screen, maybe be configured to show stats, etc... I was thinking a PC-in a HDMI stick sort of device Most important is that the client isn't too tech savvy, looking for solutions that will automatically detect the main content and respond from it, because if everything has to be initiated by the user it defeats the purpose. Basically he said right now if he's watching a baseball game he can pull up on his tablet the box score, he's looking for a way that it will automatically display that on second screen. Something that can be somewhat programmed with rules, i.e. "whenever baseball game is on show box score from ESPN.com, whenever a tv show is on, show IMDB page for that episode, whenever music is playing, show album art, etc."... just so that once it is set up it will be fairly automatic. I have no idea if this is even possible, or sort of possible, or where to even begin looking... even if the sports stats during a game isn't possible (and I have a feeling that part may be difficult) is it even possible to use Shazam or something similar and set it to automatically display album art whenever hearing music playing, at least that would be one part of the desired project... Any advice or suggestions appreciated!
G+_Ben Reese
To begin with, of course it's possible! That's what programming is all about. Probably not real simple though... If you could detect what channel he's on it should be possible to pull TV listing from an external source to show relevant content. Since Amazon owns IMDB, they've started doing something similar with their content where you can push a button and find out which actors are on the screen and easily find info about them. Really, it might be easier to start with a PC that can feed to both screens so it automatically knows what's being displayed both places. Probably won't be an easy task regardless. Isn't that kinda the promise of the Xbox One and it's second screen stuff?
G+_james robinson (radiati
Maybe an on-screen-reader to scrap text from display 1. Then pipe that to Google with some rules and display in full screen browser on screen 2? But it would take a lot of work
