G+_Isaiah W
Has anyone found an affordable Ethernet cable tester that measures transfer speed?
G+_Taylor Graham
Maybe someone else will chime in, but in my experience a laptop is the best option if you don't want to spend hundreds on one of those delicious fluke testers.
G+_Eddie Foy
Affordable? Not likely. I just got in the Fluke CIQ-100. But it was about $1100.US If the RasPi's had Gbit ports, I could see a sub $100 kludge solution. (but if 100Mbit is fine, I might play, have about 10 PI's here) One thing I'd like to point out, if you are looking for and need good results, don't skimp. As an analogy, When Apple first came out with Time Machine and Time Capsule, people were clambering to roll their own NAS to support it. But if its not 'qualified' do you want to use it for something critical like a back up?
G+_Ben Reese
I haven't looked, to be honest. I've always just tried to follow best practices when cabling and that's typically enough for most situations. When I was doing that stuff regularly I only had a couple jobs that had to be "certified" and I usually had a 95% success rate. The remaining 5% would never be noticed in normal use. G+_Isaiah W
Thanks for all the replies guys. I really like to verify my work when I'm done. I could always connect a computer to see if it can reach the internet.
