Know it All's after watching episodes 340 and 341 on IR I had a thought, reprogram a remote to send inputs to an Esp8266 e12 to trigger the pins high or low (which wouldn't actually connect to anything) tied to ifttt (if this, then that) that would remotely turn wifi devices on or off. Each button would be dedicated to each device. In effect the same thing I do with Alexa but now it's all in one remote. I'm tired of saying her name and turn x or y on or off. Thoughts?

Does the Esp software have a library that can interpret the IR codes sent from the remote control?
