G+_George Kozi
yeah, but it needs a cupholder. Originally shared by Roy Hembree New consumer-use VR treadmill is in the works A couple of weeks ago a company named Kat VR teased a prototype VR treadmill. The response to them has been so strong that they’ve started sharing more information at r/PSVR and they’ve uploaded a promotional video to YouTube. There aren’t a lot of specific details, but some good generalities. It’s being designed for home use. The base of the unit has a 5’ diameter and its tower is just over 5’ high. The rig weighs about 190 lbs. Their previous Kickstarter was for a treadmill at a $600 price point, so hopefully this is competitive with that. It’s height adjustable from approximately 4.5’ to 6’ and can support users up to 280 lbs. The rig will allow for running and crouching and bending over. It will be compatible with all major, tethered headsets. No word on when the new Kickstarter will go live other than “soon”. G+_Black Merc
I like the idea of an endless track to let you 'run' in VR, but when are they going to make a play-station(not the console but the place your real body inhabits during a VR event) that places real-world(tangible) surfaces to backup what you see in VR? Think of it, f.p.s. games, you are hiding from enemy fire with your back literally to the wall. I WANT TO FEEL THAT WALL! Till that can happen, I'll wait.
