G+_Nick Whitworth
So I have been planning a high performance 230 or 250 quadcopter build based on Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ's list in KH122 (http://twit.tv/show/know-how/122). I was looking at the specs on the motors today, and they can pull nearly 30 amps on a 3s battery. Padre only spec'd 20 amp ESCs though. Am I missing something here? The description for the motors says that they can be used with 4s batteries. but ohm's law says you would need a 40 amp ESC to power them. The description seems to be copied and pasted from other motor listings (which is one of the things about RTF Quads that annoys me) so I'm thinking something there is inaccurate. I really feel like I am missing a key piece of info here.
G+_Dan Salter
I had similar questions about the 250 build. I ended up getting 12A spider ESCs from banggood because the specs specifically stated they could handle bursts of up to 20A. They were cheaper, come with Simon K firmware and perform well. The downside was no integrated BEC so I had to purchase an independent BEC to power the flight controller. The end result works well for me. G+_Nick Whitworth
That is a good point, Wayne. I don't think I will use a 4s battery though. I'll probably use the 30 amp ESCs too.
