G+_Craig Phillips
Hey, I've recently found the show and I'm catching up on past episodes. I'm interested in getting into the quad copters. I found this listing for the Syma X5 at Banggood.com: http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5C-Explorers-RC-Quadcopter-Without-Camera-Transmitter-BNF-p-948193.html They list the price at $32.99 with free shipping. That's about $15 cheaper than anywhere else. Does this look legit and is this everything I need to get started? I know Padre mentioned that he's used Banggood.com before. http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5C-Explorers-RC-Quadcopter-Without-Camera-Transmitter-BNF-p-948193.html
G+_Barry Brown
I can't speak to whether the 'copter is legit or a fake. But make sure you pay using PayPal, not a credit card. There are numerous reports of CC numbers being stolen from that site.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Wait!!!!!! "BNF" means "Bind and Fly" --- that means it DOESN'T include a transmitter. You need a version that has a transmitter! (Unless you already have a X5 kit and lost the quad)
G+_Jim Sauber
I bought the quad and two seconds after hitting purchased realized it did not have a transmitter. Banggood sells the transmitter fur 15 or $16. Look on the page for a picture and link. I got the quad but still waiting on The transmitter. US delivery vs China delivery. G+_Craig Phillips
Thanks, Padre. I figured there might be a catch.
G+_Rob Yesta
The Syma X11/X12 transmitter works with X5C-1 You can get it from Syma for $9 if you don't have an X11/X12. It's the white/red transmitter and smaller like a toy controller if you don't mind the smaller transmitter. Search you Tube and Guy said it's better range with X11 transmitter
G+_Rob Yesta
Search You Tube for user "Quadcopter 101" for video of X5c-1 with X11 transmitter and more videos.
G+_Jason Perry
If you want better range take a look at Bryan Burnett's tutorial. I doubt you will get better range than that setup
G+_Jeff Brand
When it looks too good to be true, it probably is! (I did the same double-take when I saw that listing.)
G+_Leon Edmonds
Lol Father you talking about the new Syma coming out or what?
G+_Leon Edmonds
Father Ballecer my know something. I think there is a newer model coming out that will be using a 7.2V battery that will be a stronger quad with more features but more expensive. The X5 is a fun beginner model. My young grandkids are able to fly it. I just got my second X5 upgraded model from them yesterday. Took 4 weeks. If you get the x5 make sure it is the upgraded model and I would suggest getting the one without the camera. Flies much better and is cheaper. Agree on the extra 600mAh batteries.
