I like guns, find range shooting enjoyable, believe self defense is a right and support responsible ownership (so you know I'm not anti gun at all...). Goodness, if this is real, the stupidity burns.

All it takes is one stay radio signal on two frequencies at roughly the same time and you have yourself a problem: Left turn, trigger pull.

No. Just no.

I'm not surprised in the least, I just know it's going to further stoke the general fear of RC aircraft in the US. The county I live next to has already passed a blanket ban on flying anything anywhere except private property and I'm pretty sure I read that a town in NY is banning rc aircraft, period, end of story.

I agree with Ben Yankees but I'll go one step further.

This MORON who Weaponized a drone needs to be arrested not only for everyone's safety but for his own as well.

This is why we can't have nice things. And the reason drones are being regulated more and more each day because of STUPID people doing STUPID things with drones.

Fly drones responsibly and fire guns responsibly.

I live in Southern California. Today there was a fire that started in the Cajon Pass. Luckily not too close to me, but close enough that I'll keep an eye on the action. I happen to live in an area susceptible to brush fire.

http://ktla.com/2015/07/17/15-freeway-shut-down-in-cajon-pass-due-to-30-acre-north-fire/

People had to shut down the 15 freeway because the fire went over it, causing people to abandon their cars and flee across the freeway.

The firefighting aircraft had to be grounded because someone was flying drones over the fire.

While I do think that we should be able to fly drones over your own property, over parks and such (relatively low altitude of course), situations like this are a serious problem because even with altitude restrictions firefighting aircraft have to get low and close to the fire to do their job.

For better or worse, expect legislation to "fix" the issue.

My coworker, who is a member of our local CERT (community emergency response team) organization, said that in a recent meeting officials talked about the possibility of using drones as weapons for terrorist activity. For example, incendiary devices could be dropped using drones. Done correctly, fires could grow quicker and make it easier to shutdown transportation networks.

Scary stuff. Welcome to the 21st century.

Put it this way... I built an Alien-X that had a mount for both Paintball and Airsoft guns. It was a blast to build and test... but after the second flight, I realized that I should never show the build on KH, and I should never fly the quad again.

... Part of being a responsible maker is knowing when to put down one of our creations for the greater good.
