G+_Ben Yanke
So....I am having a problem with my gmail inbox and contacts. I use gmail as the pop client for my work email (because I can't stand having multiple pop clients on desktop, tablet, phone and having them all out of sync), so my work address itself is not a gmail address. Here's the scheme: I log into: benyanke.work@gmail.com Gmail acts as a pop client and sends and receives mail from ben.yanke@work.com. HOWEVER, I have been having a major problem where somehow my email ben.yanke@work.com got linked with a google plus account in my BROTHER'S name, so that when ever I send emails to myself, and sometimes to others, the name is "Sam Yanke ". I'm out of ideas....help?
G+_Ben Reese
That definitely sounds like a contacts issue. I don't know that a name can be sent with the email address as the "from", so it would be Gmail making that relation. Google contacts will often merge contacts (I have that problem with my parents since they're at the same address with the same house phone number). It may be that you have your work and your brother's contacts separate in contacts, but there's something that caused Google to think they should be joined. Another issue could be the client. If you're using something like Outlook, the client may have its own address book. That could overwrite the name that Google might assign.
G+_Ben Yanke
Figured it out! Turned out there was a third account with Ben.yanke@work.com as the alternate sign in address, so that took precedent over the rest of my contact entries....sheesh...an obscure problem but a pain to fix.
