G+_Ben Yanke
Fun fact: you can create QR codes that contain all your wifi authentication information, so that you can connect with one click, at least with android (no iOS devices around to test). This could be especially handy for a guest network, taped to the fridge, allowing guests to quickly log on with their devices. I think I'll be doing that myself! This site worked for me, I'm sure there are others. http://blog.qr4.nl/QR-Code-WiFi.aspx

G+_Eddie Foy
I made a apple MAC OS X service with automator that will generate a QR. I typically use for getting tracking numbers into my phone's package tracking app.
G+_Travis Hershberger
If I were responsible for putting in a public wifi anywhere, this is exactly what it would do. Every wifi needs a password associated with it, otherwise everyone is running around in the electronic equivalent of nudity. Yes, it is really very easy to steal someone's facebook account at a public wifi access point. Warning, ranting It blows my mind that corporations still roll out wifi without any security at all. They put that page in that you have to click that you agree with the license terms, but leave the local AP wide open for anyone to ease drop on. Seriously, all you need is a QR code for people to scan, have the use policy printed alongside the QR code, done. It's really much simpler than everyone makes it! /rant
G+_Ben Yanke
Arcturus Lancaster there are many QR code apps. I don't remember which one I use, but just search the play store.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Wayne Hobbins Yeah, the only thing the QR code is for ease of use. Even if everybody knows the password for the wifi network, each connection gets it's own encryption.
