G+_Ben Yanke
So, I know next to nothing about graphics cards...am I going to have faster performance with internal graphics or an old Gforce 9400 GT I picked up? I also picked up a few $5 old AMD cards from the local university surplus, and in wondering the same thing there. Or, the question more generalized: is any graphics card better than no grapuuxs card? G+_Travis Hershberger
Some graphics card is generally better than integrated graphics. If you want to check, a good place to look is: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html
G+_Reed Hanson
What kind of programs are you trying to run? Usually discrete graphics cards will perform better then integrated graphics, without knowing what CPGPU you have, it will be hard to say. Is your computer newer then 5 years old? If it is older, then the 9400GT will be way faster than any integrated GPU, might even be better then a core I7-2500K and its integrated GPU. G+_Ben Yanke
Awesome guys, thanks! I'll probably stick it in, along with one of the old AMD cards I found at the university surplus store for cheap, and see how it goes!
G+_Ben Yanke
Also, I'll double check when I get my desktop set back up (moving right now) but I think I have an i5 or i7 that's around 3-5 years old.
