Sometimes I miss "the old days" of Usenet, IRC, listserv's, etc for connecting with people I've never met but share some interests. But it's exciting now that other types of knowledge communities are bleeding further into the mainstream, or at least not only in the sphere of the technically elite. It's been true for a while that my first instinct is to do a Google search query when I have a question or idea in mind I want to explore. Now I find myself again thinking "who can I ask about this?" too.
