G+_Donald Kloss
I have a question and can't seem to find a fix for it, I have a HP envy wifi printer and it was working fine a week ago but then all of a sudden it didn't respond from the windows 10 laptop, I have uninstalled and re installed the software for the printer, I am able to access the printer through the IP address on chrome. When I go through to setup the printer windows can't find it even though I can ping the printer. It might be something simple hopefully someone can answer the question thanks. G+_Jared Alexander
Have you tried power cycling the printer? Can you print to it from another computer?

G+_Ben Reese
I'd probably first set the printer to a static IP (outside the normal DHCP range) if it isn't already. The HP software shouldn't require it, but it typically makes life easier. If if you navigate to the printer as though it's a network share, it should show up as having a print server available. For example, if you open Windows Explorer and type \\{ip} (such as \\192.168.2.10), I'd expect something to come up. If that works, you should be able to right-click on the printer that shows up and choose to "connect" - or something. If for some reason that doesn't work, you could try manually setting up an LPD over TCP/IP. I'd really just expect their software to work though. Stinks that it doesn't. G+_Ronald Stepp
HP had a bad habit of losing track of who they were, after a power outage when the router reassigns IPs to everything, it would give a different one to the printer, but the printer would still use the old one. Go into the HP control panel on the printer and change the IP to manual, give it a number near the top of your range .100 etc... something everything else in the house won't use. Now go into devices and printers and search for wired (or wireless if the printer has wireless) printers.. once it finds it at the IP you gave it you should be good to go. All assuming of course that was the problem, heh. Frankly that's why I won't touch HP printers now, I use Epson, I just got so tired of my mother calling me to come "fix" the printer after their power went out. G+_Travis Hershberger
When setting up the printer software, you have to let it fail to find a printer before it will let you enter an IP address for the printer..... just bad software design. G+_Donald Kloss
Thanks for the replies, the fix I did was uninstall a windows update and that allowed me to manually input the ip of the printer and go through and install the drivers, it was probably something with windows and the HP drivers. Thanks again
