G+_Donald E. “Don” Riley
I have two Ring Doorbell devices (Highly touted by Leo) During last nights snow fall I was using it to monitor driveway activity. I would flip back and forth between live and auto motion. This morning I discovered my WiFi had been shut off during the night. I am betting Ring did it. They have always had the issue of stopping music, and not restarting GRRR! now maybe this. Double GRRR! Ring has told me on previous occasions they do not test on all phones. Only iPhone and Samsung. That eliminates lots of phones. I am on MotoG5s.
G+_Akira Yamanita
How and why would Ring shut off your Wi-Fi?
G+_Donald E. “Don” Riley
Akira Yamanita I don`t know. I`m sure not by design, but unintended consequences. The only other explanation might be that someone sneaked into my bedroom and turned it off.
G+_Lance Muzie
Most routers from ISP's suck... Buy the Google mesh WiFi...n turn off ISP modem WiFi. Also, local ISP I had, and dropped real quick, their service would "die" if my phone or other device was uploading video/pictures... Literally killing it's ability to download a simple web page... G+_Donald E. “Don” Riley
Lance Muzie Ah-ha I think you are on to something here. Now if I can only get the head of household (my daughter) let me get rid of that POS from ATT.
G+_Lance Muzie
Yeah... Take video on phone... Backup to Google photos... If you can't get to a web page while it's backing up... Believe modern was a Motorola Aris... But could've been ISP's throttling attempts downstream...
G+_Ben Reese
Donald E. Riley Ring should not have any way to disable your Wi-Fi. At all. If it does, you have bigger security issues. It is possible that the temperature outside was too cold for the electronics to work properly. Also possible the ISP-provided router is junk and reboots on periodically. And another possibility is your ISP pushed a firmware update and it was rebooting for that (not likely).
G+_Donald E. “Don” Riley
Ben Reese All good possibility's. I think the best thing is assuming the ISP provided router is junk and has to go. THANKS!
