G+_Michael Plotczyk
Looks like NORAD is soon to be in the drone/quad hunting business, at least around Washington DC. I thought they only tracked Santa Claus this time of year... http://www.defenseone.com/technology/2014/12/drone-hunting-blimp-launch-over-washington-dc/101328/#.VI-iq8XV1vw.twitter
G+_Ben Reese
" A simple $40 drone, easily obtainable via mail-order or even 3D printing can bring down a passenger jet, military craft or a helicopter." Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ? where can we get one of these $40 "drones" large enough to be a significant threat to a military aircraft?
G+_Ben Reese
Next it won't even be legal to print your own guns!
G+_Taylor Graham
Eh, its only around DC, so i kinda of understand. My house is in their radar area! I don't think they could actually pick up a multirotor with that though. Even a large octocopter is pretty tiny when compared to a full size aircraft. My 250mm is smaller than most birds. Plus when they said "drone" in the video, they showed a picture of a predator.
G+_Michael Plotczyk
Not that he would do this, but I'm picturing: Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ is standing outside the National Cathedral demoing his harmless trainer quad to a group of little kids. Suddenly, a bright red spot appears on the quad, a brief sizzle is heard, and the quad disappears into a puff of smoke. The children squeal with joy, thinking Padre just did a magic trick...
