G+_Francis Kindred
To all the users of Synology's surveillance station, just wondering if any of you guys bought additional device licenses. I have the DS216 Play and already am using 2 cameras, but tempted to add maybe 1 or 2 more. Curious if I'm the only KITA that considered it. G+_Peter Hanse
I have setup 10 max and have 9 running. If you want motion detection to record you should look for cameras that have built in otherwise you synology has to do motion detection and that can increase processor usage. We have DS713+

G+_Francis Kindred
Jared Twomey Is this the only role of your NAS. Curious if you run any other services. I also run a VPN server on it. What cams did you put if you dont mind me asking?
G+_Rud Dog
Francis Kindred Sorry I really didn't make myself clear regarding the Synology Camera licensing. I understand the first two cameras are free to connect but any more than that and they charge you a licensing fee per additional camera, can you tell me how much that is? I too would like to hear about the other useful features offered on the unit. Thank you for your time.
G+_Jared Twomey
Francis Kindred I use mine for file backup, run Domotz on it, and VPN server, and a few other little things. And for cameras I have a mixture of Axis, Foscam, Ubiquiti, and D-Link, all work fine. I haven't tried any PTZ cameras yet, thats my next purchase. And I bought the license as a 4pack for $167.63 so about $42/each
G+_Peter Hanse
Careful on where you get license this is some fraud ones out their if price is to good to be true it is probably fake license. I even got a noname cheep PTZ camera that works. Image is only 480 lines. I would recommend 720p minimum

G+_Francis Kindred
Rud Dog Jared mentioned the cost per camera which I think is pretty reasonable, although when I checked in amazon canada i saw it to be around 80 dollars.
