G+_Francis Kindred
I wanted to ask KH synology community. Currently have a DS216Play and using it for 2 surveillance cameras, VPN and among other things and its awesome. But I'm thinking of just getting a 1 bay DS115J to just make it my dedicated surveillance system to offload it. What do you guys think?
G+_Brent Vrieze
If your not overloading the one you have what is the point other than you could have a segmented network for just that.
G+_Tailsthefox Pelissier
I think you need app for that; no matter what NAS you use.
G+_Francis Kindred
i was just thinking that my camera always write to the HD, so eventually when I start backing up and copy files i'm sure i'll be pushing the nas to the limit and dont want to risk losing footage or data transfer. G+_Neil Sondhi
it depends on your configuration, (RAID 0 OR 1) I guess monitoring the NAS via its management web interface when you do your backups will give you an indication. To my knowledge - drives have a certain threshold > they cannot perform more than that and you cannot over stress it to a point that you would cause it to fail. Thumb rule is to always leave some low activity time and some free space for the drives to perform "house keeping" - you should be fine.
