G+_Jason Eckelstafer
Probably a stupid question but... Will you see a picture quality difference if you have a media box (ie Roku, Playstation, Fire TV...) that can decode HDR but your TV can't? G+_David Wiggins
I don't think so. I'd not just being able to decode, but also a something called Wide Color Gamut (many have this, with summer degree of precision), but there is another crucial aspect. I don't remember what it's called, but it is the ability to find tune the brightness and contrast, more so than most TVs. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to charge thousands more for a TV upgrade. Well, they would, but you'd hear more about people getting service remotes to hack out the feature. At least I think that's how it works.
