G+_Giga Nano
Hello friends, I'm thinking of stepping up to a 4K monitor and that leads to a lot of questions that I would appreciate any insight or experience anyone has had. I'm currently running Windows 10 with two Dell 24" 1920by1200 monitors off an Nvidia 660. I'm looking for all around use -- I mostly do productivity stuff, PowerPoint, some video editing, general web browsing, Netflix, a little web development… some gaming. First question: 27" or 32" -- is it worth the price bump to move to the bigger size? Are there problems with Windows 10 scaling on the 27" size? Second question: HDR is seemingly the next big thing. How important is that on a computer display? Final question, is there anything else I should be looking for? Thanks.
G+_Brian Horovitz
From my experience it's not the size of the monitor but the higher resolution that is the problem. Windows doesn't seem to have a problem but some programs don't scale right and the text, buttons, UI, excetra can be very tiny and hard to use. I had to use a workaround to use EA Orgin as the menus were only a few pixles tall and almost impossible to see and use
G+_Brian Horovitz
As to your second question about HDR I have no experience with that as the 4k screen on my laptop doesn't support it and I don't have any 4k TV's yet

G+_Thomas Kregel
I agree with Brian. I run 4 monitors at home. They are shared between my laptop from work and my desktop gaming computer. First, I bought two Atron Vision Avq270 27" Professional Gaming Monitors (2560 x 1440 WQHD resolution LED backlit). When I use my laptop I have to drop the resolution to 1920 x 1200 and it looks blurry since the pixels don't match. When I run from the gaming computer the information is so tiny it hurts my eyes. May be your bigger 32" screen would help. These were $275 each. Later I bought two HP 27" 1920 x 1200 refurbs for $150 and I prefer these for most of my work. So now when I work from home I allocate one or two of the Atrons for the desktop and the rest to the laptop. I always prefer the cheaper monitors for general usage. I have not gotten around to much PC gaming lately so may be there is an advantage there. I don't know.
