G+_Jonathan Schober
Guys, I did something horrible. I (accidentally?) ran 11.1V through my Syma X5. (I already feel stupid, I thought it was 3.7V). Now, the quad is not responding to ANYTHING after I connect the correct battery. It smells kinda like burning plastic. However, I cannot find any sign of damage on the controller. Is there anything you guys recommend doing besides A, buying a new receiver board and soldering it (http://www.symatoystore.com/Syma-Spare-Parts/Syma-X5C-Spare-Parts/X5C-10-Receiver-board), or could I find the quad without the transmitter/battery/spare parts? I don't really want to wait weeks from china http://www.symatoystore.com/Syma-Spare-Parts/Syma-X5C-Spare-Parts/X5C-10-Receiver-board

G+_Wayne Black
Well, I guess this is why I got 2. Figured I would need some extra parts. Did a search for the X5C-10 PCB board and found some in the U.S. http://www.thinkrc.com/syma-spare-part-x5c-pcb-p-2995.html This would be more expensive, but you would get it quicker. I would contact them and make sure it will bind with your TX. Apparently there is the old model and upgraded model. It has to do with the camera button being on the left shoulder or right. After digging a little deeper, SoCal Hobbies has 5 in stock for a little less. I'm guessing that this means Southern California! http://socalhobbies.com/X5C-10-Receiver-board
G+_Jonathan Schober
Well, looking inside my syma, I have the V5 receiver board (SM-X5-R V5). All of the links show V3. Anyone know the differences between V3 and V5?

G+_Wayne Black
Found this on YouTube: Reading some of the comments makes it a little clearer to me that you need the rx pcb that will bind with your model of transmitter. More searching in rc groups forums. Difference between V3 and V5 is software update (better range?) and the TX now has a picture of a quad in the screen instead of a heli. (version 3) My X5-1 (without camera) is a V2 which from what I can find, is improved stability during windy flights. First versions had a "wobble of death"! Mine wobbles, but not that bad. I would make sure to get the latest for your TX, but I'm guessing that V3 would work. Newest versions use the throttle trim switch for Photo/Video. Don't quote me though!
