G+_Jason Powell
I was wondering if anybody uses Amazon Glacier as an offsite backup. I was looking for a good/reliable windows client software to transfer the data.
G+_Jared Houtsma
I use it with a Synology nas. It is a very cost effective solution but definitely isn't as user friendly as Carbonite or similar imo. Depends on how tech savy you are imo... I currently have about 150 gb backed up on it.
G+_Dan Orth
I have use Amazon Glacier. Here is the client that I used. http://fastglacier.com/ If you are running on an older machine, the client can eat up quite a few CPU cycles with breaking the files up into the required block sizes and hashing. Otherwise it has worked great for me.
G+_Ben Tyger
Last I heard glacier's throughput was pretty bad. That was not long after Amazon announced the service. I don't know if it has improved since then.
