G+_Garage Geek Guy
Tim Allen The tech people wouldn't consider it over just because the normals came over. The normals would fill it with a bunch of shit just like they do on Facebook. Stupid predictable political propaganda, pictures of Jesus, maybe a crying eagle. Throw in a few chain posts, where some fantastic thing will come true if you "LIKE" this post in 5 seconds or less. Then it will be on to try and name a town in Alabama that doesn't have the letter A in it. Next will be 3 posts of BS that were disproven on Snopes 7 years ago. To me, that's the kind of crapola that will eventually do Facebook in. Hell, maybe that's what the people want.
G+_Alexa Krueger
Lonnie Honeycutt That's already happening here. I have another account associated with my business and I haven't followed anyone. (Using the Gmail to catch all my associated email accounts) So the drivel is rising to the top over on that stream. Sad. Over here I have carefully curated what I want to see and who I follow. I really dig the Communities, as they are very focused for the most part.
G+_Garage Geek Guy
Alexa Krueger this TWiT community is awesome. Been listening to TWiT for years, and NOBODY around here listens to it that I know of besides me. I just found out about this community yesterday...Leo is crazy not to see the fish in a barrel he has here.
G+_Damian Mongru
Jeffery Edmonds I don't know if it's foolish for TWiT to ignore G+ - they might just think that they already serve this demographic. It just seems like a wasted opportunity to me. The tech community may be the early adopters - I mean we are the type of people who are interested in this stuff, we read the blogs etc and know tech release dates off by heart, so will obviously get the tech first - but are they really the influencers who take the service mainstream. Google+ started with that extended Beta so I guess that is how invitations were passed between people. My use of Facebook started with university students and friends (Internet savvy and social people, not necessarily the tech community) and now everyone has it. Not sure about Twitter but I think you're right. However, is that still true? You just need an app now, I don't think things like Angry Birds, Farmville or Instagram were championed by the tech community before being hugely successful. This leads to another discussion on celebrity (I remember Will.I.Am saying he was targeting his iPhone accessories at the influencers and trend setters, and that annoyed me). Again that is a discussion about marketing for another time.
