We are looking into setting up a security cam in our home, watched the rasp pi episode 77 can that alert you via text or email when motion is detected. Was looking at a foscam and some others but like the idea of the rasp pi to play with also. Any suggestions?

Using a camera for motion detection is tricky during the day.  If the sun goes behind a cloud quickly then comes back, it can look like movement to an algorithm because lighting changed.

If it is in a room where most of the light is through windows, then there will still be sudden light level changes.
