I have a question for you guys here

Nah, Google locks down Android pretty well. Unless you're sideloading untrusted apps I struggle to justify anti-virus.

 

Frankly, I'd rather use apps to monitor usage (app, data, battery, so on) and use that to see if there's anything wonky.

 

also, I don't store anything on my phone (exclusively) so if I need to nuke my phone it's not a problem apart from the time to setup everything again.

I recommend not side loading without being sure of the apps pedigree or installing any apps of a sexual nature . . .  :) Otherwise I can't see the point. Had one on and all it did was block an app I wanted (it was VLC beta) and would not let me override it. It was uninstalled within about 30 seconds.
